a weekly podcast dedicated to Michigan independent music

Saturday, December 31, 2005

The podcast is on winter vacation.

Actually, I have the flu. :(
Due to this, no podcast this week or last. I'm shaking it though, and the tea principle will return on the 6th!
Thanks to everyone who's listened and sent in songs!
Next episode: brand new Vega!

In case you're new to this podcast thing...

Here's how to subscribe to the Uncertain Tea Principle:

You need two things.
- an mp3 playing application like winamp or itunes or musicmatch or whathaveyou.
- a 'podcatcher' or feed aggregator to connect you to the feed.
- I like itunes myself because it has both in one, as does, I think, windows media player.

So now you're ready!

- Right click on the XML feed button to the right. Yes, the one with the hip and trendy flame on it.
- select 'copy link location' if you use firefox. If you're still using IE, I think it's 'copy link' or something like that.
- in itunes, under the 'advanced' pulldown, select 'subscribe to podcast' in most other applications, it's even easier.

Now you're subscribing to the Tea Principle!

Episode 1!

Ingus Mat's Uncertain Tea Principle: Episode 1

Featuring:
In Civillian Clothing
Vinny Keys
Skin Casket
Jeremy Cassar from the soundtrack to "Thank God For Snydersville Diner"
plus Ingus ranting about the weather.

The RSS feed is to the right! The Tea Principle is GO!

What is the Uncertain Tea Principle?

Ingus Mat's Uncertain Tea Principle
It's a Socrates reference.
It's also the name of my column in the Michigan Times.
Now it's a podcast radio show.

The Uncertain Tea Principle is a weekly RSS syndicated podcast showcasing music by independent artists from Michigan and the Great Lakes region. Songs are interspersed with rambling, interviews, narrations, listener emails and sound files, and whatever else takes shape that week.

Genres of music run the gamut from acoustic to hardcore to jazz to hip hop. If it's good (or in some cases even if it isn't) and it's local, it's in the playlist. Bar-rock and new-country music will be scarce. Because bleh. I'll sneak in some classic local goodness whenever I can as well.

Spoken word and narrations are also fun, and will be included whenever possible.

To submit material, email uncertaintea@gmail.com

The home of the show is uncertaintea.blogspot.com. The podcast feed link will be there, as well as the downloadable files, updates, and info on the show each week.

To listen to the show, you'll need a podcatcher application of some sort. There's a few to choose from. I like Apple's itunes, but you might also want to try iPodder Lemon or some other program. Once you've added the RSS feed link for our show to your podcatcher, it will automatically download each episode for your listening enjoyment on your computer or mp3 player.

Thanks! If you have any questions, please email me!

Songs needed for the Uncertain Tea Principle!

I need some music submissions for Ingus Mat's Uncertain Tea Principle!

In the spirit of the East Lansing Mixtape and other underground radio type podcasts, I'm putting together a weekly audioblog/webcast/whateveryoucallit. I'm going to focus mainly on underground music and whathaveyou from the Flint area, with a sprinkling of what's going on in the greater indie scene. John (Paco?) and I used to do a pirate radio show (shhhh! Don't tell the FCC!) back in the day, and this is the logical extension of that.

Here's the format:
• Weekly podcast syndicated via RSS and itunes
• Target time: 1 hour long per week
• Focus: 75% mid michigan scene, 25% national.
• Genres: anything good, and some stuff that isn't. Obviously an indie rock focus, cause it's me, but really, anything goes.
• Look for lots of unreleased stuff, live goodies and interviews with local bands and such.
• Of course, some classic flint tunes from the vault.

So I need submissions! Either links to MP3s (and permission to play them on the podcast, of course), emailed MP3s, or actual physical CDs (you can drop em off at the T-Shirt shop)

Email me your tunes!

or send me stuff to play!
